Dear Mr. Martin:
Attached for your review is a copy of the Public Service Company of Colorado report entitled Metallurgical Examination of Control Rod Drive Cables. This report details the examination of the CRD No. 25 cable failure and is being submitted to satisfy our commitment to you as stated in the referenced letter. A majority of the information in this report was presented to members of your staff during the meetings held at Fort St. Vrain on November 28 and 29 of this year.
A safety evaluation will be submitted for NRC review regarding the use of Inconel 625 cables to replace the existing stainless steel cables by January 31, 1985.
