Attention: Mr. James P. O'Reilly In our previous correspondence on this subject, Georgia Power Company indicated that the engineering evaluation of this concern would be reported to -the USNRC by December 21, 1984.
Since the earlier transmittal, Georgia Power Company has expanded the evaluation to include the work of a second individual suspected of submitted erroneous liquid penetrant inspection reports.
The evaluation thus far has involved the reinspection of a sample of 701 welds examined by a single individual and the corresponding inspection records.
Some documentation discrepancies were found as well as ten welds containing previously undetected PT indications.
Engineering evaluations were conducted for each of these discrepancies and none were found to have an impact on plant safety.
Due to the developments indicated above, the evaluation of this concern has not been. completed as expected.
Georgia Power Company is therefore continuing its evaluation of this matter and will provide a report of the results to the USNRC by February 21, 1985.
