Amended Detroit Edison Response Inspection Report 50-341/83-29 The purpose of this letter is to inform you of change to a commitment Detroit Edison made in response to an item of noncompliance contained in Inspection Report No.
50-341/83-29.
This change has been discussed with the Senior Resident Inspector at Fermi 2.
In the response (Reference 2) to item 83-29-02, Detroit Edison stated:
"To avoid noncompliance similar to the exam-ples cited, each external storage area is inspected at least every other day by Detroit Edison and by the responsible contractor."
At the time this response was made, both Edison and its contractors were maintaining a number of external stornge areas.
Therefore, to exercise proper control, Detroit Edison committed to frequent inspections of the many storage areas.
Since, then, Detroit Edison has assumed control over and has consolidated the storage areas, and now considers that inspections conducted every other day are no longer MAR 51565

Therefore, the appropriate procedures are being revised to require less frequent inspection of storage areas.
These procedures are available for review at Fermi 2.
