Revised Comed Response to NRC Ouestion 2.C.1:

The augmented examinations established by the NRC through Branch Technical Position MEB 3-1, High Energy Fluid Systems, Protection Against Postulated Piping Failures in Fluid Systems Outside Containment, Revision 0, dated 11/24/75, do not explicitly require volumetric examination of all high energy piping welds located in the containment area outside containment, unless the high energy piping is located inside a guard pipe. A working draft of MEB 3-1, dated 8/5/77 (refer to FSAR, Appendix C, Article C.2) does clarify that the augmented examination requirements (100 percent volumetric examination) apply for high energy fluid piping welds, located inside and outside the containment areas, regardless of whether the piping is inside a guard pipe or not. These augmented examination requirements were included in LaSalle's ISI Program for the first ten year interval and remain unchanged in LaSalle's ISI Program for the second ten year interval.

All high energy fluid piping wolds, located inside and outside the containment areas, receive a 100 percent ultrasonic inspection as required.
