Georgia Power Company hereby provides the following information in response to the violation cited in NRC I&E Report 50-321/84-32 and 50-366/84-32 dated Septaber 17, 1984. The subject violation was identified during the NRC inspection conducted at-Plant Hatch Units 1 and 2 by Mr.
P. M. Madden of your staff on August 21-24, 1984.
VIOIATICN Technical Specification, Section 6.8.1.f requires written procedures to be established, impleented and maintained covering the fire protection progra impl e entation.
Procedure HNP-1-3372-E, Rev.
O, Fire Protection Hydrant House Inspection, Section G. - 60 Day Inspection, requires that two 50 ft. sections of 2-1/2" hose corw:ted together, be arranged in an accordion fold on the lower shelf, and that equipnent found to be defective or in need of repair be replaced or repaired prior to cmpletion of the inspection.
Contrary to the above, on August 23, 1984, the hoses inside hydrant houses 2 and 4 were not arranged in accordance with the procedure and in hydrant house 2, a hydrant wrench was found with a severely bent handle and another one with a handle broken off.
This is a Severity Level V violation (Suppleent I).

RESPONSE

Reason for the violation: Personnel violated the surveillance requirenents by failing to. follow specific steps of the' Plant Hatch fire protection procedure (IEP-1-3372-E, Rev. 0) which require correction of deficiencies y
prior to the conclusion of the surveillance.
Corrective' steps which have been taken and the results achieved:
Dunediate action was taken.to correct all deficiencies.
