Attached for your information is an updated status of 1984 licensing items identified in Alabama Power Company's letter dated Oc tober 10, 1984. This attachment is tabulated chronologically by Alabama Power Company's requested NRC approval date. Alabar,1a Power Company is ready to discuss modifications to this status to address all licensing issues.
Alabama Power Company acknowledges and appreciates the recent NRC efforts to' complete licensing action on items 16,17,18,19, and 20 of the attached list. There remains, however, 4 items which are.still required to support the upcoming Unit 2 refueling outage which is-scheduled to-start January 4,1985. Specifically, item 28 of the attachment, Revised Heatup and Cooldown Curves, requests deletion of the requirement to remove a reactor vessel capsule during the next Unit 2 refueling outage. As a result of. higher than anticipated fuel burnup resulting in an earlier planned start of the refueling outage and finalization'of ongoing detailed outage planning, the critical date for-a decision on removal of the reactor vessel capsule has been advanced to
' January 4,1985. Without an NRC decision by that date Alabama Power Company will be required to either unnecessarily remove a reactor vessel
-capsule or place itself in jeopardy of extending the outage critical path if approval by NRC is not obtained prior to scheduled startup.

' Two new items have been added to the attached list. These items arc a request for a Pollution Control Bond Issue Certificate (item 22) and an Administrative change to provide greater working hour flexibility for the operating staff (item 26). NRC staff action is requested in accordance with the attached list for these two new items.
It is Alabama Power Company's understanding that the attached Licensing Items list agrees with the current NRC schedule. The attached schedule is considered acceptable to Alabama Power Company.
