Region II - Suite 2900 50-424, 50-425 101 Marietta Street, Northwest Atlanta, Georgia 30323 File: X7BC24 Log: GN-528 Attention: Mr. James P. O'Reilly The Georgia Power Company wishes to submit. the following supplemental information regarding the general concerns of USNRC I&E Bulletins 83-06 and 83-07, which deal with non-conforming materials

. supplied to nuclear power plants.

The evaluations conducted in response to the specific concerns of I&E Bulletins 83-06 and 83-07 required the review of specific procurement and control measures applied to materials supplied by Ray Miller, Inc. and Tube-Line Corporation. In addition, the Vogtle Project Quality Assurance Department conducted audits of the procurement and material control programs applied to other suppliers providing a variety of materials and equipment. These audits also included examinations of program controls for accepting substitutions for materials when requisitions specify a particular type or brand. The audits determined that adequate controls have been established at the Vogtle Electric Generating Plant to assure the quality of materials used in its construction. Documentation relative to these audits is available for review at the plant site.

Georgia Power has completed its evaluation of I&E Bulletin 83-07 (Reference -letters GN-377, dated June 26, 1984, and GN-383, dated July 5, .1984). The evaluation of I&E Bulletin 83-06 is continuing l as indicated in previous correspondence GN-507, dated January 14, l 1985. At this time, Georgia Power Company expects to complete this evaluation and submit a final. report to the USNRC by May 31, 1985.

l This report contains no proprietary information and may be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
