Dear Mr. Yarnell:

Subject:

Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station NPDES Permit No. PA0009733 As per our telephone conversation on Friday, March 15,1996, this letter is being sent to request approval for a temporary discharge of non-contact cooling water to the discharge canal via a stormwater drain at Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station. The source of the discharge will be a bolt heater that will be used during the performance of turbine maintenance work. Cooling water will be supplied to the heater from the station demineralizer plant. Station demineralized water has the following characteristics; pH in the range of 6 to 8, less than 10 ppb chlorides, and less than 10 ppb silica and sulfates. The flow rate of the discharge will be 22 gallons per minute for a maximum of 10 hours1.157407e-4 days
0.00278 hours
1.653439e-5 weeks
3.805e-6 months
.

Based on the high quality of the water that will be used (demineralized water),

there will be no increase in the discharge of pollutants.

In order to support outage schedules, we would appreciate a favorable response by April 30,1996.

If you have any questions or require additionalinformation, please contact me at (215) 841-5177.

Sincerely, MD Robert M. Matty, Jr.
