MFN-160-84, December 3, 1984 The purpose of this letter is to supplement the response given to Specific Questien a) under the Ultimate Plant Protection System (UPPS) portion of the referenced letter. Specifically, the following paragraph-describing the' capability of UPPS to provide makeup to the suppression pool-is provided as supplemental response:

UPPS provides makeup to the suppression pool via selected Safety /

Relief Valves (SRVs) that are equipped with air operators.'Since each SRV discharges through.its quencher 6'.-5" below the centerline-of the drywell top vent, retention of the SRV discharge by the suppression pool.is assured. Pool scrubbing is enhanced, of course,-by virtue.of maintaining adequate _ vent coverage..
