[External_Sender] Feedback on your March 4th presentation
Dear Ms. Reed and Mr. Lohr,
The Social and Environmental Research Institute would like to offer you some comments on your March 4th presentation. We signed onto the letter that Barbara Warren was putting together, but wanted to make sure you saw our comments as well. We were working from a draft letter that Barbara put together, but we have not yet seen the final version. We anticipate that she will send the letter if she has not already.
Anyway, we hope our comments are helpful to you. As we said, there are many resources available to guide federal entities that would like to do public and stakeholder engagement well.
One addition thing that my colleague, Seth Tuler, and I discussedthis morning is the additionalchallenges that social distancing poses for public engagement in the near to ??? future.
There has been some work done examining the pros and cons of face-to-face versus computer-to-computer interaction, but not a lot is known about how to do that kind of participation well.
Hopefully, there will be governmental agencies that are interested in funding research into best practices for online participation.
Sincerely,
Tom Webler Thomas Webler Treasurer Social and Environmental Research Institute PO Box 1487 Northampton MA 01370 www.seri-us.org
