" Testing Of Safety-Related Logic Circuits" Ladies and Gentlemen:
i Generic Letter 96-01, dated January 10,'1996, notified licensees about problems with i
inadequate testing of safety-related logic circuits. This letter provides the NRC requested 60-day response for Farley Nuclear Plant (FNP).
Southern Nuclear Operating Company (SNC) will perform a comparison of electrical i
schematic drawings and logic diagrams associated with the Reactor Trip System (RTS),
Engineered Safety Features Actuation System (ESFAS) actuation logic, and Emergency Diesel Generator (EDG) load shedding and sequencing against the plant surveillance test procedures.
This comparison will ensure all portions of the logic circuitry are adequately tested in accordance with Technical Specifications requirements. If necessary, surveillance procedures will be revised to ensure compliance with Technical Specifications requirements.
The engineering review / comparison process has been initiated. SNC will complete the review and any required actions by the end ofFNP's scheduled refueling outages in March 1997 for Unit I and March 1998 for Unit 2. Should you have any questions, please advise.
