) Docket No. 50-352 Attachment to Monthly Operating Report for February 1996 i Umerick Generating Station Unit 1 February 1 through February 29,1996 1. Narrative Summarv of Ocerei;nc Exoeriences Unit 1 began the month of February at 87% of rated thermal power (RTP) in end of cycle coastdown. On February 2,1996 at 0200 hours, power reduction commenced in preparation to shutdown for Unit 1 sixth refueling outage (1R06). Power was reduced to 22% RTP and the main turbine was removed from service at 0900 hours. The planned shutdown was postponed to support power generation requirements and the main turbine was returned to service at 1625 hours. On February 2,1996 at 2253 hours, power ascension began. The unit was i restored to 80% RTP on February 4,1996 at 0251 hours. On February 5,1996 at 1500 hours, power reduction commenced in preparation to shutdown for 1R06. Power was reduced to 22.5% RTP and the main turbine was removed from service at 2200 hours. The unit was manually scrammed at 2300 hours to start 1R06. On February 6,1996 at 0953 hours, the unit entered operational condition 4, Cold Shutdown, and at 1531 hours, the mode switch was placed in Refuel. On February 23,1996 at 1534 hours, operational condition 4 was entered when the reactor pressure vessel head was fully tensioned. On February 28,1996 at 0221 hours, the reactor mode switch was placed in Startup, control rod withdrawal commenced at 0855 hours and the reactor was critical at 1351 hours. Unit 1 ended this operating period in operational condition 2 with startup in progress following 1R06 and reactor pressure at 960 psig. 11. Narrative Summarv of Ocerei;ric Exoeriences Unit 2 began the month of February at a nominal 100% of rated thermal power (RTP). On February 9,1996 at 2229 hours, power was reduced to 98% RTP for main turbine valve testing. Power was restored to 100% RTP at 2330 hours. On February 10,1996'at 2214 hours, power was reduced to 88% RTP for main turbine valve and RPS testing. Power was restored to 100% RTP on February 11,1996 at 0016 hours. On February 17,1996 at 0145 hours, power was reduced to 98% RTP for main turbine valve testing. Power was restored to 100% RTP at 0245 hours. On February 23,1996 at 2330 hours, power was reduced to 98% RTP for main turbine valve testing. Power was restored to 100% RTP on February 24,1996 at 0035 hours. Unit 2 ended this operating period at 100% of RTP. II. Cha!Ienoes to Main Steam Safety Relief Valves There were no challenges to the Main Steam Safety Relief Valves during the month of February.
