Dear Mr. Denton:

ULNRC-958 DOCKET NUMBER 50-483 CALLAWAY PLANT UNIT 1 REVISION TO TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION TABLE 3.3-1

Reference:

ULNRC-889 dated August 1, 1984 The referenced letter transmitted a technical specification change request which modifies Table 3.3-1 to allow the boron dilution flux doubling signal to be blocked during reactor startup. As a result of a phone call between NRC (J. Holonich and V. Leung) and UE (W. Robinson and D. Shafer) on October 25, 1984 the following supplemental information is provided:

Block switches are provided on the main control board to allow blocking the isolation valve movement during normal reactor startup. This blocking function blocks only the isolation valve movement and has no effect on the other protective functions of the source range instrumentation, i.e., reactor trip, alarms, indication. Boron dilution protection is automatically reinstated when both intermediate range channels decrease below the P-6 setpoint valve. Blocking is annunciated on the main control board.

No physical plant changes are involved in implementing this technical specification change.

Please contact us if there are additional questions.

Very truly yours, fo , .)u. W
