Letter dated July 30, 1992 from B. D. Withers, WCNOC to U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission

Subject:

Docket No. 50-482:

Extension of Commitment Gentlemen:

This letter provides a revised schedJle for the completion of corrective actions identified in the Reference.

The Reference tz ansmitted Wolf Creek Nuclear Operating Corporation's (WCNOC) respoase to Violation 9208-02 concerning a failure to follow procedures by performing maintenance without a Work Requeet.

As part of the corrective actions associated with thic violation, WCNOC committed to hsve all Mechanical Maintenance personnel participate in a review session of Administrative Procedure ADM 01-057, ' Work Request" by September 18, 1992.

These corrective actiono are being t'acked by Performance Improvement Request (PIR) 92-0504.

Review sessiont have been held with approximately 80 percent of Mechanical Maintenance personnel.

Mechanical craft personnel have participated in these review sessions, including the crew involved in Violation 9208-02.

Review sessions with the remaining personnel have been delayed because of activities associated with the formation of a Mechanical Coordinator position.

As a result of concerns with the work control process. WCNOC is creating this coordinator position to assure the necessary resources are available to perform the work activity and ensure proper system restoration.

This activity is documented in URC Inspection Report 50-482/92-05.

At the time of the inspection, implementation of the coordinator position was scheduled for third quarter 1092.

The individual responsible for conducting review cessions for AD"01-057 is also involved in the implementation of the Mechanical Coordinator position.

Corrective actions associated with PIR 92-0504 were delayed to allow increased emphasis on the implementation of the Mechanical anrdinator p)sition.
