Subject:

Clinton Power Station Unit #1 Clinton Site Erosion Monitoring Efforts

Dear Mr. Schwencer:

At the request of Mr. Gerry LaRoche (NRC), a review of the site crosion programs was conducted on September 20, 1984. Subsequently, a telephone conversation was held to discuss erosion monitoring efforts on October 1, 1984, between Mr. LaRoche, Pat Gwynn (NRC), Glen Carter (IP),

Doyle Wilson (IP), and Rawls Walden (IP).

During the conversation, Mr. Gwynn discussed his recent report; stated that the immediate construction site displayed types of erosion typical of construction sites at this level of completion; and expressed that there were no problem erosion areas.

Mr. LaRoche suggested that the erosion on a berm surrounding one of the condensate storage tanks be visited. This spot was visited immediately after the telephone conversation by Illinois Power personnel.

It was determined that the vegetated berm has some sparse areas which are expected to fill in naturally as the current vegetation spreads. Since the berm erosion is minor and there is some vegetation on the berm, no erosion corrective action is planned for this area at this time.

If any questions arise in this area, please contact me at (217) 935-8351, Ext. 324.

Sincerely yours Y

I F. A.
