APPLICANTS' MOTION FOR A ONE-DAY EXTENSION OF TIME WITHIN WHICH TO FILE THE TESTIMONY OF GEORGE W. CHANEY Applicants, Texas Utilities Electric Company, et al.,

move for a one-day extension of time for.. filing the testi-mony of George W. Chaney.

Mr. Chaney, a document examiner, will testify regarding the corrected dates on the Weld Data Card for Field Weld 40C of system AF1-SB-007, which Jack Stanford has testified he initialed and dated.

Mr.

Chaney will also compare the changes on the Weld Data Card to corrections appearing on the Weld Filler Material Log for Field Weld 40C.

On Thursday,' October 18, 1984, Mr. Chaney was called on short notice to testify as'an expert witness in Plante

v. Texas. Oil & Gas Corp., now being heard in the District Court for Freestone County, Texas.

.. -waiting.to be called.. At.the end of the day he had not been called, and Mr. Chaney must reappear.in court on Monday, October'22, the day that his testimony is due to be filed in this proceeding.

Due to Mr. Chaney's unavailability on Friday, October 19, land Monday, OctoberH22, and the short notice under which he was called as a witness, counsel for Applicants were not able to meet with Mr. Chaney, as planned, in order to i

-_ complete his testimony for this proceeding.

Mr. Chaney has advised counsel that his testimony in the Plante trial should

.ba concluded by noon of October 22, and counsel will meet with.him as soon thereafter as possible to complete his testimony for this proceeding.

The undersigned has contacted counsel for intervenor and for the'NRC staff regarding this motion, and is authorized to state that neither intervenor nor staff object to the motion.
