Dear Dr. Marley,
Reference (a) stated the NRC staff's position requiring the reactor water level trip units in the Alternate Rod I'nsertion System to be diverse from the trip units in the reactor trip system.
Reference (b) requested confirmation as to whether LaSalle Station conformed to the diversity criteria, and reference (c) was Commonwealth Edison's (CECO) response.
As discussei in reference (c), LaSalle Station does not currently. conform to the staff's position, and CECO stated that LSSalle Unit 1 would install the i
j modifications required to reach conformity during the Unit'1 outage scheduled to begin in the Fall of 1992, L1R05.
. The replacement logic cards have a long lead time for manufacture, and high utility demand, resulting in delayed receipt of the cards.
The cards necessary tc support the Unit I modifications are expected to arrive at l
LaSalle in mid-November., during the Unit I refuel outage, and will be-installed during the' outage.

Murley September 25, 1992 Should the cards not be delivered during the outage, installation of the Unit i logic cards will be deferred from the Fall 1992 outage, and be performed at the next.utage of sufficient duration (two weeks) after parts become available, but no later than the Unit I sixth refuel outage, LlR06.
The original schedule for Unit 2 installation, the Unit 2 outage in the Fall of 1993, remains unchanged.
