DPR-42 50-306 DPR-60 Response to NRC Bulletin 92-01, Supplement 1 Failure of Thermo-Lag 330 Fire Barrier System To Perform 1_ts Specified Fire Endurance Funct hn On June 24, 1992, NRC Bulletin 92-01 was received at Prairie Island.
The Bulletin required that each licensee submit a written response to questions concerning use of Thermo Lag at each facility.
Based on our evaluation of the information contained in the original 3ulletin, all fire barriers where Thermo-Lag fire barrier material is used were declared inoperable on June 24, 1992 and comptnsatory measures were established.
On August 31, 1992, NRC Bulletin 92-01,. Supplement 1, was received at Prairie Island. The Supplement required that each licensee submit a written response to further questions concerning use of Thermo Lag at each facility.
To comply with the requested actions of HRC Bulletin 92-01, supplement 1, no changes in our actiors are necessary.
Thermo-Lag fire barrier material is used in six individual fire areas at Prairie-Island. A once per-hour roving fire watch was estt.blished in response to the original Bulletin. This fire watch covers all six fire areas in which l
Thermo-Lag fire barrier material is used, regardless of the size of the barrier. This fire watch will be continued until the fire barriers can be dec'ared operable.
The Bulletin also asked for information to help NRC evaluate the cost of complying with the Bulletin.
