DCCKET PROPOSED RULE NUMBER ,N 21 (5'7 F(E. 2 pgyg)

.h! <

5711 Sununerset Dr.

Midland, MI 48640 ,

'92 FIP 14 P.2 50 Sepicinber 5. 1992 Mr. Samuel J. Chilk. Secretary ,

Nuclear Regulatory Commissicin ,s 0-Washington, D. C. 20555

Dear Mr. Chilk:

It is essential that you extend the conunent period on the proposed amendment to its regulations to allow storage of spent fuel in concrete casks for 60 days because of the difficulty of getting all the pertinent documents. For example, I placed several calls to Consumers Power Co. public relations department several months ago requesting documents that the company has prepared on the concrete casks to be used for storage of wastes at Palisades, but I have had no response. Therefore, I wrote to the president, Mr. Fred fluckinan, for assistance on August 19, but I still have had no response to date.

It seems to me that these documents should be available not only to the general public, but certainly to ratepayers.

There are also other documents referred to in various papers in the public documents room that have been difficult to locate.

Many thanks for your attention to this request.

! Yours sincerely, Lou r. L.0n.Edlnl~s l Mary P. clair, PhD.

Dear Mr. Buckman:

Please send me all the documents that Consumers Power Co.

has prepared for your proposed storage of high level waste from the Palisades plant in concrete casks on the plant site.

I called Mr. Savage's office twice to get these, but have not received anything-nor did I have my calls returned.

Many thanks for your assistance.

Yours truly, h- N Mary P. nelair, PhD.
