The NRC's Safety Evaluation (SE) of Fire. Protection Measures at'the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station per Appendix R to 10 CFR Part 50, dated May 30, 1991--(TE letter Log Number 3480), discussed the-electrical circuits associated with the fire alarm and signaling systems which are not-supervised in accordance with NFPA Standard 72D-1975 (Proprietary Protective Signaling Systems). The NRC's SE also discussed TE's plans to assess the scope and nature of modifications necessary to correct these deficiencies and TE's plan to. correct them during the eighth refueling outage (scheduled for Spring 1993).-

The purpose of this letter is to formally inform the NRC-that TE has completed its evaluation of these deviations. The evaluation provides-either: 1)'the scope of-the' modifications to correct a'noted' deviation, or 2) the justification for the acceptance of _ the deviation without-modification. The modifications to correct noted deviations are.

planned to be completed prior to restart-from the eighth refueling outage. This evaluation was discussed at a meeting on May 14, 1992.

between_TE ' the NRC Staff _and, as discussed at the meeting, vill be retained on site for NRC review.
