The Toledo Edison Company submitted to you on April 16, 1984 (Serial No.
1042)'a schedule for completing certain evaluations to address the audit
' findings identified during the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) 10 CFR
~
-50 Appendix R Audit performed at the Davis-Besse Nuclear. Power Station,
. Unit No.~.1 (DB-1).-
These schedules were further-discussed and accepted at the NRC-Toledo Edison Audit Response Program Review meeting of June 12 1984.
With regard'to. Emergency Lighting, an assessment of the adequacy of the
~
emergency _ lighting at DB-1 needed to. implement procedure AB 1203.26, concerning a-fire in the Control Room or Cable Spreading Room, was per-formed and completed as scheduled by December 30, 1983 (NRC letter dated November-23, 1983, Serial No. 1004).
For fires outside of the Control ~ Room and Cable Spreading Room, procedure AB 1203.02, " Serious Station Fire", was approved by the Plant Manager on January 2,;- 1985,' detailing the manual actions necessary to support plant L
shutdown for the respective fire locations.
The final emergency. lighting evaluation to assess the adequacy of lighting with. regard _to Appendix R,'Section III.J. can only now be initiated util-
'izing this procedure as input.

It has now been determined that the evaluation can be completed by June 30 1985.
