LReferences (a) and (b) requested extension of the. Calvert Cliffs Unit 1 inspection interval from May 8,1985 to April 1,1987. It was BG&E's intent that the interval extension ~ would apply to all phases of the ASME Code Section XIInservice Inspection Program, including both Inservice Inspection (ISI) and Inservice Testing-(IST) of ~
pumps and valves.
During subsequent discussions with Mr. D. H. Jaffe, NRC Project-Manager, he indicated that a separate request would be required for extension of the interval for Inservice Inspection of pumps and valves. We are, therefore, herein requesting extension of the current Unit 1 IST program interval to April 1,1987. 'On April 1, 1987, all phases of the Inservice Inspection Program, both ISI and IST, for both Units 1 and 2, would then be updated to the approved Code as specified by 10 CFR 50.55a.
- As stated in references (a) and (b), the purpose for requesting an extension of the ISI program interval was to reduce procedure duplication and ' confusion of Code requirements between Calvert Cliffs Units-1 and 2 by updating both to the same edition and addenda' of ASME Code Section XI. Similarly, by updating both Units 1 -
and 2 IST programs to the same edition and addenda of the Code it will serve to.
eliminate confusion and procedure duplication for BG&E, the Authorized Nuclear Inspection Agency, and the 'USNRC. The Unit 1 testing of pumps and valves will
- continue to adhere to the current Code requirements and exis+ing exemptions until
' April 1,1987.
