J. F. Stolz, Chief Operating Reactor Branch No. 4 Division of Licensing U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, DC 20555

Dear Mr. Stolz:

Three Mile Island Nuclear Station Unit 1 (TMI-1)

Operating License No. DPR-50 Docket No. 50-289 Post Eddy Current Inspection Report Following the completion of the Eddy Current Inspection of THI-1 A and B Steam Generator tubes, Technical Specification 4.19.5a requires a report to be submitted of the number of tubes repaired or removed from service.

No tubes were repaired by the kinetic expansion process in either steam generator.

In Steam Generator A, 93 tubes were removed from service for a total number of tubes removed from service since fabrication of 1009.

In Steam Generator B, 10 tubes were removed from service for a total number of tubes removed from service since fabrication of 300. Tube plugging was completed on February 16, 1985. The criteria used by GPUN to determine which tubes should be removed from service is contained in the GPUh submittal of January 31, 1985, letter no. 5211-85-2023.

Assuming approval of the January 31st submittal and consequently no additional tubes removed from service, this letter will fulfill the requirement of T.S. 4.19.5a.

Sincerely, 0$ $50h gg Director, THI-1 HDH/SM0/spb cc:
