UllITS 1_mid_2 NRC Bulletin 92-01, " Failure of Therro-Lag 330 Fire Barrier System to Maintain Cabling in Wide Cable Trays and small Conduits Free from Fire Damage," dated June 24, 1992, requires each licensee to provide a written response stating whether it has or does not have Thermo-Lag 330 fire barriers installed in its facilities.
Wisconsin Electric does not have Thermo-Lag 330 ffre barrier systems installed at its Point Beach Nuclear Plant facilitiec Tiiis Bulletin is, therefore, not directly applicable tv Point Beach Nuclear Plant.
INTERA!!, which is a one-hour fire-rated barrier syctem manufactured by 3M, has been installed at Point Beach to provide separation between redundant shutdown trains to meet the requirements of 10 CFR 50, Appendix R, Section III.G.2, " Fire Protection of Safe Shutdown Capability".
To ensure that INTERAM materials do not have problems similar to those found with Thermo-Lag 330 materials, we have evaluated the applicability of tLe NRC Inforation Notices referenced in NRC Bulletin 92-01 regarding Thermo-Lag 330 materials to INTERAM.
Based on the manufacturer's information and our reviews, the INTERAM fire barrier system is capable of performing its intended function at Point Beach.
