Dear Mr. Keppler:
This letter is in response to the inspection conducted by Mr. D. E. Miller on November 26-29 and December 3-4, 1984, of activities at LaSalle County Station.
Reference (a) indicated that certain activities appeared to be in noncompliance with NRC requirements.
The Commonwealth Edison Company response to the Notice of Violation is-provided in the enclosure.

Action statement 3.3.7.10.a states that with a radioactive
-liquid effluent monitoring instrumentation channel alarm / trip
- setpoint.less conservative than required, immediately suspend the

release of radioactive -liquid effluents monitored by the affected channel.or declare..the channel' inoperable.
Contrary to-the above on August 23, 1984, a radioactive liquid effluent release was made from a discharge tank with a nonconservative> alarm / trip setpoint.
CORRECTIVE-ACTION TAKEN-AND' RESULTS ACHIEVED No immediate corrective action was taken, since the error
-was'not recognized until a.second similar occurence on September 27, 1984:was1 discovered;for batch 45-84.
