A December 27, 1984 article',in Newsday (Enclosure 1) qu$ed the Coliseum's general manager as stating that LILCO'would bpi granted reasonable access to the Coliseum in the event of an emer-v gency as called for by the letter of agreement, but="would not be able to use the facility during scheduled events such *as.the cir '

On December 31, 1984, the Nassau County Executive. Francip1 Purcell, wrote a letter to LILCO's Chairman,' Dr. William J. Cat &cosinos to elimiAnte any con-fusion resulting from_the Newsday article.

The health and public safety of the residents of Long Island take precedent over any other activities that might be occur-ring within buildings of public assembly.

I trust that the foregoing will leave no doubt in anyone's mind as to our_ position in this matter.
