Beaver Valley Power Station, Unit No.1 Docket No. 50-334, License No. DPR-66 Proposed Operating License Change Request No. 229; January 17,1996, Conference Call Documentation This letter documents our verbal response to a question proposed by the NRC staff during a conference call on January 17,1996. The conference call was held to address staff concerns in support of our Alternate Steam Generator Tube Plugging Technical Specification Change. The subject question is provided here followed by our response.

OUESTION:

Proposed TS 4.4.5.4.10.c states that "... indications...may remain in service if a rotating pancake coil or acceptable alternative inspection does not detect degradation." Explain the reference to an " acceptable alternative inspection."

RESPONSE

Reference to an 'heceptable alternative inspection"means a nondestructive examination technique that is qualified using similar criteria as that used for qualifying rotating r

pancake coil probes.
