..F&C.$ ilf.M % v i '1 Ml June 9,1992 NCKL ig41 Secretary U S Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, DC 20555 Attention: Docketing and Servicing Branch Comments on 10 CFR Part 20 Implementation Date Extension This letter provides our comments on the proposed rule to axtend the implementation date of the revised 10 CFR Part 20, Standards for ?rotection Against Radiation, in response to the Federal Register notice of May 19, 1992, (57 Fed. Reg. 21216).

We support adoption of the proposed rule by the NRC to extend the implementation date to January 1, 1994. We believe that this extension will allow a more deliberate and effective implementation for the NSP Health Physics Prc f rams (Monticello and Prairie Island nuclear generating plants). There exists a need for our hecith physics personnel to review the regulatory guides currently being developed by the NRC to clarify key parts of the revised rule. Without this clarification, it will be difficult to effect the necessary procedure changes and employee training required prior to implementation.
