{ Cooling Vater Additive Trial for i Circulating Vater System i
Dear Ms. Jackson,
t
- The Perry Nuclear Power Plant has enlisted Betz Industrial to determine the j effectiveness of Slimicide C-78P (a solid bromine / chlorine donor) for slime and i algae control in the plant circulating water system. The trial period vill be
! three months. The chemical vill be injected tvice per day, for one hour j
duration. The discharge vill be dehalogenated using the existing sodium sulfite addition system and combined vith untreated service vater prior to entering state waters.
1 During this trial period, the circulating vater system chlorination system vill
, not be used unless the trial is discontinued; however, plant service water and
, emergency service vater vill continue to receive routine chlorine treatm"nts.
l Based on the success of the trial and your approval, the Slimicide vil_ oc
- considered for permanent use.
l Attachments 1 and 2 contain the information required in accordance with Ohio ,
j EPA procedures. Our intention is to begin the trial upon receipt of your ,
i approval; we vould appreciate your notifying us of the results of your l evaluation as soon as possible. Please contact Louise Barton at (216) 259-3737 i ext. 5512 with your results, or if you have questions.
4 Sincerely, Michael D. Lyster
