Dear Mr. Koval:

"hc c0 As I indicated during a telephone conversation with Mr. George Fetchko of your department on December 6,1984 there was a total iron noncompliance of discharge 071 Cooling Tower Blowdown on December 2, 1984. The level of total iron discharged was 7.44 mg/l with the permit limit being 7.0 mg/1. Because of this noncompliance river intake samples normally not analyzed have since been analyzed with the results available on December 8, 1984 indicating that high levels of total iron were present in the river. On December 1, 1984 the level of total iron in the river intake sample was 5.34 mg/l contributing to this noncompliance. River intake sample levels were as follows:
