On May 1,1992, Fire Door No. 214 to the Unit 1 Senice Water Room was maintained open to support work activities during the Unit I refueling outage. This door must remain open to move equipment and material into the Senice Water Room to support Unit 1 outage related piping modifications within the room. As a result of this activity, the fire door will remain open until piping modifications are completed.
As specified by Technical Specification 3.7.12, ACTION Statement u, a Special Report must be issued to the Commission pursuant to Technical Specification 6.9.2 ff a fire door in a fire zone boundary protecting safe shutdown areas is not restored within 7 days. Currently, the fire door is to be rettored prior to Unit 1 startup. As required, this Special Report addresses actions to be taken, the cause of inoperability, and clans and schedule for restoration of the Unit 1 Senice Water Room fire zone boundary to an operable status.
EITECT ON UNIT OPERATIOE On Mcy 1,1992 with Unit 1 defueled, Fire Door No. 214 was opened in the Unit 1 Senice Water Room. The fire door in this room is addressed by Technical Specification 3.7.12. In accordance with this Technical Specification, ACTION Statement a was entered and a continuous fire watch was establisl.ed on one side of the open fire door.
In addition to the continuous fire watch, the room's automatic sprinkler system remains in senice which mitigates the temporary inoperability of the fire barrier. Also, a lire watch is required by Calvert Cliffs procedures during welding / cutting / grinding operations in the room.
PIANS AND SCllEDUldiS Upon completion of the work inside the Senice Water Room ine fire door will be closed rme.ing it to operable status. This will occur prior 60 Uni' 1 startup scheduled for midduly 1992.
