Dear Mrs. Ellis:

Pursuant to my letter to you of December 3,1984, I am enclosing copies of the NRC audits of the Gibbs & Hill Applied Mechanics Group referenced on page 24 of the affidavit supporting Applicants' motion for summary disposition regarding quality assurance for design.Section II of the first audit (80-01; March 28, 1980) ccncerns Applied Mechanics' activities. That audit was not completed at the NRC's first visit. Accordingly, I have also enclosed the NRC letter documenting cor.pletion of that audit (February 20, 1981). No adverse findings were made as a result of either review of these activities.

The second audit (81-04; January 6, 1982) included a review for several purposes (see Inspection Scope) of numerous docu-ments employed by the Applied Mechanics Group (see items 63-80 in " Documents Examined"). No adverse findings were made with respect to the activities related to those documents. In addition, I have enclosed for your records documentation re-flecting the close-out of the findings on other topics made in that audit.

Further, I am enclosing three pages from the text of Gibbs Hill Specification MS-46A which list various regulations, codes and standards governing ouality assurance activities performed under that specification. This portion of MS-46A also references Specification 2323-GS-903 (Appendix 4 to MS-46A),

which I transmitted to you in my December 3 letter. Although you already have a copy of MS-46A, I have enclosed these pages to assure they are brought to your attention.
