50-328 SEQUOYAH NUCLEAR PLANT (SQN) - COMMITMENT SCHEDULE REVISION FOR NRC UNRESOLVED ITEM (URI) 90-28-02

Reference:

NRC letter to TVA dated Septe:aber 28, 1990, " Notice of Violation (NRC Inspection Report Nos. 50-327/90-28 and 50-328/90-28)"

g In the referenced report, the inspector noted that certain electrical conduits f{

were wrapped with fire barrier materials to meet the 1-hour resistance criteria ot 10 CFR 50 Appendix R.

The material used for the barriers varied; some were wrapped with Thermal System Inst.lation and others were wrapped with KA0 WOOL.

However, the conduits that were wrapped with KA0 WOOL did not have the conduit supports wrapped in a consistent manner, i.e., some were wrapped eighteen inches, some were wrapped four inches, and some were not wrapped.

Nuclear Engineering reviewed the installation of the KA0 WOOL-wrapped conduits and concluded that the lack of wrap on some supports still met the requirements of Appendix R.

However, TVA agreed to enhance the fire protection of the KA0 WOOL-wrapped conduits by wrapping all the supports in a consistent manner and to a uniform height.

The initial schedule was to complete the installation by January 30, 1992.

Changes in outage duration and implementation scope have resulted in delays in field implementation. The projected completion date for the wrapping activity is April 17, 1992.
