Dear Mr. Stolz:

Three Mile Island Nuclear Station Unit 1 (TMI-1)

Operating License No. DPR-50 Docket No. 50-289 Backup Incore Thermocouple Reading and Display System Testing Requirements By letter dated May 31, 1984, GPUN provided information on five NRC comments on the seismic capability of the backup incore thermocouple reading and display system. Comment #5 required adoption of proper calibration procedures for converting portable voltmeter readings into thermocouple temperatures because the installed backup incore thermocouple readout meter was not seismically qualified. GPUN agreed to incorporate a test comparing computer readings with the results of the portable voltmeter into the Startup and Test Program per T.P. 846/1, Incore Thermocouple Operation Test. This test will not be performed in T.P. 846/1 because the unqualified meter has recently been replaced with a seismically qualified meter.

Sincerely, f
