84-27 10/13/84 F 20.3 A 2 84-109 HA INSTRU C Plant shutdown due to cycling of turbine governor

& by-pass valves. It was determined after shutdown that cycling was caused by radio frequency inter-ference due to keying of hand held radio trans-mitters in the vicinity of electrosyn pressure transmitters.

All susceptable ir.strument locations were iden-tified and warning signs were placed in the area of DEH pressure transmitters. Action is also being taken to evaluate the possibility of modifying electrosyn transmitters to reduce

! I sensitivity to radio frequency interference.

! caused by the steam seal condenser by pass valve-failing closed while trouble shooting valve problems. The valve was repaired and plant returned to service.
