DOCKET NOS. 50-266 AND 50-301 RESPONSE TO INSPECTION REPORT NOS. 50-266/85-01 AND 50-301/85-01 POINT BEACH NUCLEAR PLANT, UNITS 1 AND 2 The following is in response to your February 26, 1985 letter forwarding Inspection Report Nos. 50-266/85-01 and 50-301/85-01 for the Point Beach Nuclear Plant, Units 1 and 2, which covered a NRC inspection of the Point Beach inservice testing program conducted January 2 through January 17, 1985 by Mr. P. R. Wohld.
According to 10 CFR 50, Appendix "B",
Criterion XII, equipment used in activities affecting quality require calibration.
Contrary to this requirement, stop watches used for the inservice testing of safety-related valves at Point Beach were not controlled as test equipment and were not calibrated periodically..
As an interim solution until calibrated stop watches can be obtained, stop watches used for the inservice testing of valves have been assigned an unique identification number and have been checked for accuracy.
Stop watches used for the inservice testing of valves at Point Beach will be controlled as test equipment and will be calibrated periodically, commencing on July 1, 1985.
The interim measures previously discussed have been taken.
