Limerick Generating Station, Units 1 and 2 Special Reports for Two Valid Emergency Diedel Generator Test Failures
REFERENCE:
Technical Specifications Sections 4.8.1.1.3 and 6.9.2 Attached are two Special Reports being submitted pursuant to the requirements of Technical Specifications (TS) Section 6.9.2 as required by TS Surveillance Requirement 4.8.1.1.3.
TS Surveillance Requirement 4.8.1.1.3 requires reporting of all diesel generator failures, whether valid or non-valid, within 30 days.
The reports are required to include the information recommended in Regulatory Position ~ C.3.b of Regulatory Guide (RG) 1.108, " Periodic Testing of Diesel' Generator Units as On-site Electric Power Systems at Nuclear Power Plants," Revision 1, August 1977.
-Attachments 1 and 2 provide our responses to the valid failures of the Unit 1 D14 Emergency Diesel Generator (EDG) and the Unit 2 D21 EDG respectively.
Both EDG failures resulted from crankcase pressurization transients.
