SUBJECT:

Beaver Valley Power Station - Unit No. 2 Docket No. 50-412 Response to NRC Geosciences Branch Draf t SER Open Item on Seismic Design Response Spectra Gentlemen:

Enclosed are seven (7) copies of the report entitled " Site Dependent Res ponse Spectra, Beaver Valley Power St at ion - Unit 2" (BVPS-2), dated February 1985. This report supplements the report entitled " Seismic Design Response Spectra, Beaver Valley Power Station - Unit 2," dated June 1984 ,

which was provided in letter 2NRC-4-072, dated June 1, 1984 , in response to Draft SER open items related to the NRC Geosciences Branch (GB) and the NRC  !

Structural and Geotechnical Engineering Branch. This submittal addresses the l CB's requests for additional information that resulted from their review of our June 1984 report. These requests were identified in our August -16,1984, meeting and our October 4, -1984, telephone conversation with the GB (see Appendix 1 of the enclosed report).

On December 4, 1984, DLC informally provided the GB with a draft of the enclosed report. On December 7, 19 84, DLC me t with the GB to formally present the information that was contained in the draf t report. The enclosed i final version of the report also addresses the questions raised by the GB and I the discussion that occurred during the December 7, 1984, meeting.

DLC believes that this submittal in conjunction with the June 19 84 report and the BVPS-2 FSAR clearly demonstrates that the BVPS-2 Seismic Des ign Response Spectra are appropriate for plant design. Therefore, DLC considers this issue to be closed unless further not ification indicating otherwise is received from the NRC.
