Vogtle Electric Generating Plant-Units 1 and 2, 50 424150-425; 9 HVAC Duct Support Weld Discrepancies; GN-324, dated March 2,1984; GN-414, dated September 10, 1984. Attention: Mr. James P. O'Reilly On January 31, 1984, Mr. C. W. Hayes of Georgia Power Company contacted Mr. J. Rogge of the USNRC - Region II concerning HVAC duct support welding performed by Pullman /Kenith-Fortson. In previous corres-pondence on this subject, Georgia Power Company described the results of reinspections performed in this area. Bechtel Power Corporation conducted an engineering evaluation of the results of the reinspections utilizing statistical sampling methods designed to assure the integrity of the duct supports. As a result of the evaluation, the details of which are available for your review, Georgia Power Company has concluded that this concern is not reportable pursuant to the requirements of 10 CFR 50.55 (e) or 10 CFR 21.
