The above actions':aken by_ the F.VAC Subcontracco were ce=pleted by June 24, 1981.

Bach:e1 specification-8031-C-41A. parag,raph 4.4, s: aces in' par:: "All velding shall be in accordance vi:h thp "S::ue: ural Welding Code," AWS D1.1 ....".

The "S: uctural Welding Code", AUS D1'.1, requires in paragraph 3.6.4: *

Con::ary to the above, on April 22, 1981, velding undercu in excess of 1/32 inches was observed on :he North Reacco: Building Exhaus: S:ack in velds on bea: =e=bers 2232 and 24D4R.

This is a severity Level V Violation (Sup;1enen: II), applicable :o C??R-106 and C??R-107. . .

~by Project Engineering and were deter =ined to be acceptable "use-as-is"-

based on-the actual design requirenen:s.

As a result of the 100 -inspection on one of the stacks, the structural s: eel in~:he a:her s:acks was given a 50 inspec: ion on. shop velds.

Minor' veld deficiencies were also identified in these stacks and were disposi:1oned si=ilarly.

'In: addition, the 3echtel Quality Con:;o1 Receip: Inspec: ors have been ins::ue:ed to increase their inspec: ion of any fu:ure s::uctural steel which we nay receive f:o= a:her vendors.
