Letter from TVA to NRC, "BFN Extension of Ten Year Inspection Interval", L44 880301 801 The purpose of this letter is to provide for your revir.v the Inservice Inspection (ISI) and system pressurc test programs for the BFN Unit 2 second inspection interval which begins May 24, 1992. The code of record for this interval wil.1 be the 1986 Edition of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code,Section XI.
The applicable regulation,10 CFR 50.5n(g), requires that inservice examinations and systea pressure tests of ASME code components of a water-cooled nuclear power facility mee.t the ISI requirements of ASME Section XI.
In addition, 10 CFR 50.55a(g)(4)(ii) requires the ISI and system pressure test programs be updated every 10 yeare to meet the i
requirements of the latest NRC approved Edition and Addenda of Section XI, which is in effect 12 months before start of the raxt 120-month inspection interval. The second inspection interval for BFN Units 1 and 3 will b'i n one year after their respective startup date as committed to i

Enclost c 1 contains the updated BFN Unit 2 ISI program which conforms to the 1986 t;dition of the ASME Section XI code. This program contains Request for Relief ISI-2-1 which is being submittea for your approval. contains the updated system pressure test program which conforms to the 1986 Edition of the ASME Section.XI code.
