Giuskegcc3nstitute FOUNDED BY BOOKER T. WASHINGTON,1881 Schoolof Engineering and Architecture Tuskegee Institute OFFICE OF THE DEAN TELEPHONE: (205) 727-8355 September 17, 1984 Mr. Cecil 0. Thomas, Chief Standardization and Special Projects Branch Division of Licensing United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, D. C.

20555 RE: Docket No. 50-406, Facility License R-122

Dear Mr. Thomas:

The process of issuing an order authorizing " Disposition of Component Parts and Termination of Facility License" is taking an extended period of time. We need to prepare the space in the Nuclear Facility, where our AGN-201 reactor is located, to house a wind tunnel.

We therefore request permission from the USNRC to move the AGN-201 reactor vessel outside the Engineering Building (yet still well within the confines of the property of Tuskegee Institute) and to remove a stacked concrete wall presently dividing off the " reactor area" from the rest of the Nuclear Facility.

If you have any questions concerning this request, please contact me at (205) 727-8356 or Phil Loretan at (205) 727-8458.

Sincerely yours, L
