The researcher involved modified the procedure without written approval irt . (,

4' N The researcher in question has been counseled as to the necessity to follow ,

procedures and the requirement to obtain written approval for any changes to . <1 procedure. In addition each operator has been made aware of this incident and will review procedures with researchers prior to irradiations. These ' actions were completed on June 26,1984.

-We have noted the inspectors' concern as to the lack of aggressive

. management attention to correct deficiencies identified during the May 1983 1 inspection. -We will be meeting with our management personnel and will review L their log and record keeping activities and the surveillance procedures in order to F- 'make rure that the entire operation is in compliance with approved safety commluee procedures.
