  • Docket No. 50-424 TAC No. M92321 U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission ATTN: Document Control Desk j Washington, D. C. 20555 VOGTLE ELECTRIC GENERATINGPLANT ADDITIONAL INFORMATION RELATIVE TO GEORGIA POWER COMPANY REQUEST FOR EXEMPTION FROM 10 CFR 50, APPENDIX J TYPE A TEST SCHEDULE FOR UNIT 1 AND ASSOCIATED )

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS CHANGE l l

1 Gentlemen:

By letter LCV-0610, dated May 12,1995, Georgia Power Company (GPC) requested an i

exemption from 10 CFR 50, Appendix J schedule requirements and an associated change to Technical Specification 4.6.1.2 for Vogtle Electric Generating Plant (VEGP), Unit 1. The l request will allow the next Type A test, which is currently scheduled to be performed during the IR6 refueling outage in March and April,1996 to be rescheduled in accordance with the

' new criteria (Option B) of the 10 CFR 50, Appendix J. The exemption was approved by the

NRC on August 29,1995, and the associated Technical Specification change is currently being reviewed by NRC.

Georgia Power Company proposes to amend the requested Technical Specification change by

> the addition of a footnote to specification 4.6.1.2.a, stating "The Type A test scheduled for VEGP Unit I during 1R6 will be rescheduled to the 1997 refueling outage." This change is reflected in the attached mark up of Technical Specification page 3/4 6-2 which should replace the marked up page that was contained in our letter LCV-0610. The conclusions of the significant hazards evaluation in accordance with 50.92, which was attached to LCV-0610 is /

unaffected by the addition of this footnote.

If additional information is required, please advise.

Sincerely, -

l b
