Subject:

LaSalle County Station, Units 1 and 2 Surveillance Requirements for Static-O-Ring (SOR) Differential Pressure Switches. System Codes: RH(E12), LP(E21), HP(E22), LD(E31) d

Reference:

1. Letter dated April 1,1987, from R. M. Bernero (NRR) to D. L.

Farrar transmitting a Safety Evaluation Report (SER) for supporting the continued use of SOR, Inc,. differential pressure switches at LaSalle.

NRC Docke; Numbers 50-373 and 50-374.

]

Reference:

2. Letter dated August 2,1995 from W. D. Reckley (NRR) to D. L.

Farrar transmitting the Issuance of Technical Specification Ammendments (TAC NOS. M91124 AND M91125)

NRC Docket Numbers 50-373 and 50-374.

Enclosed is Comed' s supplemental response to the Safety Evaluation Report (SER) that was transmitted with the Reference 1 letter.

The surveillance requirements listed in the SER required each SOR DP switch to be functionally tested or calibrated each month when the switch was required to be operable.

When the NRC accepted our long term action plan for continued use of SOR DP switches and issued the referenced SER, all previous Technical Specification surveillance requirements were replaced and superseded by the surveillance requiremeats specified in that document.

These surveillance frequencies are no longer the same frequency requirements as currently specified in the LaSalle Technical Specifications.

The Technical Specification Amendments for Surveillance Test Intervals / Allowed Outage Times (STI/AOT), transmitted in the Reference 2 letter, decreased the surveillance frequencies of these SOR DP switches. LaSalle County Station will now be performing the surveillances of the SOR DP switches in accordance with the Technical Specification Amendments and also will no longer be documenting surveillance failures of these switcles in i

the LaSalle Monthly Performance Report.
