Saxton Nuclear Experimental Corporation Operating License No. DPR-4 Docket No. 50-146 Re: License Transfer and Amendment Request for Inclusion of GPU Nuclear as a Licensee By letter dated November 21, 1995 Saxton Nuclear Experimental Corporation (SNEC), on behalf of itself and GPU Nuclear Corporation (GPU Nuclear), filed an application to transfer from SNEC to GPU Nuclear all management-related responsibilities for the Saxton Nuclear Experimental Facility (Saxton), and also requested that the Saxton license be amended accordingly. The purpose of the requested transfer and amendment is to make GPU Nuclear directly responsible as licensee for activities it is already performing at Saxton as a contractor.
Timely disposition of this filing is key to near term actions that ultimately will decommission the Saxton facility Containment Vessel and release the site for unrestricted use. A case-in-point is the Saxton facility Decommissioning Plan submittal.
It is our intention to make that submittal as soon as possible.
However, since it is based on the organizational structure proposed in the License Transfer and Amendment Request, we feel the need to withhold it until that request is dispositioned by the NRC.
Based on discussions with you and my staff, we understand that your current work priorities could result in further delays in publishing the Federal Register Notice and in processing our recent request.
The purpose of this letter is to request your i
consideration of our amendment application on an expedited basis. We would be glad to provide whatever assistance is necessary.
