Dear Sirs:
n,;f[ch Allied-General huclear Services, and associated companies (hereinafter Allied-General, et al. ), are holders of Construction Permit No. CPCSF-4 issued by the Atomic Energy Commission on December 18, 1970, for the construction of the Separations Facility of the Darnwell Nuclear Fuel Plant.
The original date of completion of construction, as set forth in the Construction Permit, was January 1, 1974.
By letter dated August 13, 1973, from Mr. Leland C. Rouse of the Atomic Energy Commission, this date was extended to December 31, 1976.
As your records will show, Allied-General, et al. has sub-sequently requested further extensions of the date of completion of construction.
Most recently, in a letter dated August 24, 1983, Allied-General, et al. requested extension be granted to September 30, 1984.
This was to provide time for resolution of ongoing uncertainties.
Some of the uncertainties referred to in our letter dated August 24, 1983, have by now been resolved.
We have been keeping the Nuclear Regulatory Commission fully informed concerning the developments in relation to the site, including the arrancements made in consultation with the regulatory officials of the State of South Carolina.
In addition, there is a strip of property at the edge of Allied-General, et al.'s 1700 acre site, about 500 feet wide and comprising about 78 acres, which is contiguous to the adjacent low level radioactive waste disposal site of Chem Nuclear; Chem Nuclear wishes to purchase this strip from AGNS, and AGNS and Chem Nuclear have agreed to the transfer of this strip of land to Chem Nuclear.
We wish to add that, as has been previously indicated, AGNS is continuing to maintain pertinent records in orderly fashion, so that they will remain availabic for such future use as may be needed or until such time we advise you otherwise.
Since it is not clear to us what procedure the Commission 8409190360 840820 PDR ADOCK 05000332 A
