UNITED STATES OF AMERICA NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION In the Matter of Southern Nuclear Operating Company Docket No.52-025 (Vogtle Electric Generating Plant, Unit 3)
ORDER On February 12, 2020, the NRC published notice in the Federal Register that the scheduled date for initial loading of fuel into Vogtle Unit 3 is November 23, 2020. 85 Fed. Reg. 8030 (Feb. 12, 2020). On April 3, 2020, Nuclear Watch South filed a request to extend the April 13, 2020, deadline to request a hearing regarding the licensees conformance with the acceptance criteria in the combined license for Vogtle Unit 3.1 Nuclear Watch South stated in a certification accompanying its request that counsel for both the NRC Staff and Southern Nuclear Operating Company (Southern) would consider the request and respond once it is filed.
Pursuant to my authority under 10 C.F.R. § 2.346(a) and (b), counsel for NRC Staff and Southern are directed to file responses to Nuclear Watch Souths request no later than 12:00 p.m. (EDT) on April 7, 2020.
