April 6, 2020 Mr. Michael Yox Regulatory Affairs Director Southern Nuclear Operating Company 7825 River Road, Bldg. 302, Vogtle 3&4 Waynesboro, GA 30830

SUBJECT:

VOGTLE NUCLEAR PLANT, UNITS 3 & 4 - NOTIFICATION OF CHANGE OF CYBER SECURITY INSPECTION DATES

Dear Mr. Yox:

In a letter dated December 6, 2019, the NRC informed you of an upcoming cyber security inspection at Vogtle Nuclear Plant, Units 3 & 4. As part of the letter, the NRC request information to support the inspection. Subsequent to reviewing the information, the team leader for the inspection, Philipp Braaten, met with your staff on February 18th to discuss the upcoming inspection. During this meeting it was decided that delaying the inspection would be better for all stakeholders. This delay is not a reflection or a result of any problems with the program, but a product of the current state of construction at the site.

The NRC and your staff decided to delay the inspection to the week of August 24th, 2020. It is the NRCs understanding that many more systems and components will have been completely installed and therefore the NRC inspection team will have substantive information related to the cyber security operational program to review.

Additionally, it was decided to change this initial inspection to one week instead of the originally planned two weeks. This one-week inspection will not fulfill the requirements of the inspection procedure utilized, IP 81000.09, Cyber Security Inspection for Construction. An additional two weeks of inspection activity will take place at a later date, and at the completion of these subsequent two weeks all requirements of the inspection procedure should be met.

The team lead for this inspection will be in communication with your technical and licensing staff during the period leading up to the inspection to ensure this new schedule can be maintained.

There are no changes to the initial information request and all requested information was provided. If any of the requested information needs to be updated, the team lead will contact your staff.

If you have any questions about the inspection, please contact the lead inspector at 404-997-4651 or via e-mail at Philipp.Braaten@nrc.gov or me at 404-997-4521.

This letter does not contain new or amended information collection requirements subject to the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 (44 U.S.C. 3501 et seq.). Existing information collection requirements were approved by the Office of Management and Budget, control number 3150-0011. The NRC may not conduct or sponsor, and a person is not required to respond to, a

request for information or an information collection requirement unless the requesting document displays a currently valid Office of Management and Budget control number.

In accordance with 10 CFR 2.390 of the NRC Rules and Practices, a copy of this letter and its enclosures will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room or from the Publicly Available Records System (PARS) component of NRCs document system (ADAMS). ADAMS is accessible from the NRC Web site at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.hmtl (the Public Electronic Reading Room).
