Dr. Murley:
As discussed with your staff in the referenced teleconference, Commonwealth Edison Company (CECO) has begun development of the Quad Cities Station Inservice Inspection (ISI) Program update.
This update will establish the ISI Program for the third tan-year interval.
The current ten-year interval for the ISI Program cor.cludes on February 18, 1993 for Unit 1 and on March 10, 1993 for Unit 2.
In accordance with 10 CFR 50.55a, the program for the third ten-year interval must comply with the 1986 Edition of,ASME Section XI (with no Addenda)..However, CECO has learned that the Nuclear' Regulatory Commission (NRC) has reviewed and accepted the 1989 Edition of Section XI-(with no Addenda)
In Reference (b), CECO requested approval to use the 1989 Edition of Section XI for the Dresden Station ISI Program update.
The NRC Staff granted approval-to use the 1989 Edition of Section XI for the Dresden Station ISI Program in Reference (c)..
CECO requests approval to use the 1989. Edition of ASME Section XI for the third ten-year interval update of the Quad Cities Station ISI Program. CECO believes that the use of the 1989 Edition of Section XI will enhance the Quad Cities Station ISI Program.
